Anxiety disorders affect about 40 million Americans, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Each year about 6.7% of U.S adults experience major depressive disorder.
20-year-old Anna Clendening has suffered from both from age 14. it was so bad sometimes that she couldn’t leave her house.
So how did she get to the point where she could walk out on stage for "America’s Got Talent?"
"It felt like my mind had given up on me," she said in the June 10 episode. "I just felt so bad about myself. I didn’t like who I was, I didn’t know how to bring myself out of it."
