Mr. Fred Rogers, the late creator and star of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" spent his summers in a modest gray shingled house on Nantucket island. One afternoon he met his neighbor, a MTV producer named Benjamin Wagner, whose mother rented the cottage next door. After asking about his work, Rogers said to Wagner, "I feel so strongly that deep and simple is far more essential than shallow and complex." That conversation haunted Wagner and eventually led him to leave his Time Square office to begin interviewing the people who knew and loved Rogers best —to find out what he was really like. Rogers touched millions of people and Wagner’s film, aired by PBS earlier this year, extends that legacy.
