Nick Vujicic was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of arms and legs. At the age of 10 he tried to commit suicide, but could not bring himself to do it, a story he shares in his this music video.
Nick acknowledged that God had a plan for him. After his mother showed him a newspaper story of a man with a severe disability, he began giving talks to his prayer group. The members found his talks so inspiring that he was encouraged to begin sharing his story in speaking engagements at 19.
He graduated from Griffith University with double major in accountancy and financial planning. He uses these money managing skills to start Life Without Limbs, a non-profit organization in which Nick shares his faith and joy with children, teens, and adults of all backgrounds. Their mission is:
to cross boundaries and break down barriers, to build bridges that bring people to the love and hope found in Jesus Christ.
Nick’s genuine enthusiasm for life, despite his disability often charms and captivates audiences. In 2007, he started a second organization, Attitude Is Altitude. AIA enlists a team of motivational speakers to inspire audiences through talks and events. They speak on a more secular level for profit.
Nick also shares inspirational videos through his AIA YouTube account. He can be seen surfing, skydiving, and even shooting hoops.
Nick currently lives in Southern California with his wife, two sons, and twins on the way.
