The cast of the hit series on the life of Christ, The Chosen, are sharing their excitement over the upcoming third season. In a recent promotional video, the actors promised longer episodes, a thickening plot, and emotional moments that could bring viewers to tears.
The interviews opened up with series star Jonathan Roumie (Jesus) who drops the gauntlet with a tantalizing claim:
“Oh, man. What I’ve been telling people is that season three of The Chosen will melt your face off. I don’t know how else to put it,” Roumie stated, with a sly smile and a glint in his eye.
Anticipation
The members of the cast expressed their solidarity with fans who have awaited the third season for over a year. This lengthy wait has been just as hard on the actors who can’t wait to share the fruits of their labors. The interviews include behind the scenes footage of the actors seeming to have the time of their lives on set.
Actress Amber Shana Williams (Tamar) said of the season:
“I am also impatiently awaiting season 3. It’s definitely going to blow everything else out of the water. Season one was amazing, that’s what brought me on board. Season 2 was great. Season 3 is such a transition.”
Meanwhile, Roumie builds anticipation by noting the ambitious scope of the next chapter in the ministry of Christ:
“The depth that we go with the characters this season, the scope of the show … everything gets exponentially expansive.”
Plot developments
The third season of The Chosen is bound to be larger, as the apostles have assembled and are ready to follow Christ into the heart of the Gospel narrative. Aleteia previously reported on some of the factors that will come into play in season three:
“After Jesus completes a sermon that turns the world upside down, all 12 disciples (including newcomer Judas) are ready to follow him to the ends of the earth. But problems remain. Matthew wrestles with estrangement from his family. Andrew visits an imprisoned John the Baptist. Mary and the women must find a source of income. Simon and [his wife] Eden face the costs of following Jesus.”
In comments on the drama that will begin to unfold in theaters on November 18, Alaa Safi (Simon the Zealot) said:
“What I love about season three is that Jesus and his disciples, they just go at trouble. They don’t shy away from it. They don’t back out.”
The highly anticipated third season of The Chosen will premier in theaters across the US from November 18 to 22. Visit Fathom Events to find a theater near you.
