We've shared with our readers a number of videos from Fr. David Michael Moses, a priest whose enthusiasm for his faith is utterly contagious.

One of Moses' talents is being able to reach the faithful in a way that seems relatable, and often with a little humor added in for good measure.

So recently, the priest looked to one of our basic foods to explain the key to a good prayer life -- while also reminding us of a handy cooking tip.

In the video Fr. David Michael points out how we can identify a raw egg from a hard boiled egg simply by spinning them. As the priest-and-chef explains, if you place your hand on the hard boiled egg mid-spin, it will stop spinning, as its insides are solidified. However, if you tap those raw eggs while they're spinning, their liquid insides will keep them going.

And this is where Fr. David Michael compares the eggs to our spiritual life. He believes most of us have a tendency to see our prayer lives like the hard boiled egg: We can stop what we're doing and focus on prayer. In reality though, we're more like those goopy raw eggs. Even when we physically stop ourselves to pray, our minds are a little elsewhere and we're not concentrating on communing with God.

Moses reminds us that we need to be more patient. When we stop to pray, we need to give ourselves some time to focus. After all, cooking that hard boiled egg takes time, and that's what we need to aim for -- being centered and balanced to start praying.

And the great news is, now every time you see an egg you'll be reminded to consider your prayer life, and how to pray more effectively.
