Sarah Kroger's new hymn is an excellent meditation on the Eucharist that would be perfectly at home in the Catholic Mass.

After a slow 2022, Sarah Kroger is back in 2023 with a brand new single, “Take, Eat, Drink.” The song is an exceptional Eucharistic hymn that offers a wonderful meditative atmosphere and would be right at home during the distribution of Communion at Mass.

The song opens like a lullaby, with a soft backtrack supporting Kroger’s gentle soprano. While the tune grows in intensity, it never reaches levels that would disrupt the prayers of those who have returned to the pews after receiving the Eucharist. The repeated lines of “We take, eat, drink, we remember,” and “Thank you Jesus” make for excellent meditations, which listeners can easily sing along to on their first listen.

Released while Catholics are in the midst of Lent, Kroger brings the faithful a worthy new hymn to spur devotion and facilitate faith practice. According to Jubilee Cast, Kroger was mindful of Lent when she released the single, hoping that it might aid the faithful in their Lenten reflections. She said:

"The term Eucharist is derived from the Greek word eucharistein, which means ‘thanksgiving.’" Kroger continued, “We are preparing for the celebration of Jesus conquering death at Easter, but resurrection didn't come without the cross. 'Take Eat Drink' is a song of remembrance that invites us to enter into Christ's Passion and turns us towards gratitude for such a wondrous act of complete, unadulterated love."

Sarah Kroger remains one of the most exceptional Catholic artists on the market, writing songs and hymns that capture the heart of the faith and speak to the faithful. Her 2020 album Light was an eight-song masterpiece that should be reviewed by all aspiring Catholic musicians, with devout lyrics and excellent vocal performances that allowed the artists' devotion to shine strongly.
