The dire situation in Ukraine is making many of us fear for the future. It's understandable to have such anxiety, especially when the war is out of our hands. People of many religions have been leaning on their faith to find calm among the storm.

Thankfully, we can find peace and guidance in the words of Scripture and many of the Church's saints, such as the much-loved Franciscan friar, St. Pio of Pietrelcina -- "Padre Pio" as he's affectionately known.

The humble Italian was known for his deep spirituality, as well as his stigmata, levitation, and miraculous healings. These God-given gifts led to mistrust and fear from others, and at some points in his life he was banned from celebrating Mass in public. This didn't stop Padre Pio from fulfilling his role as spiritual advisor and confessor to many, however.

Drawing on his own experiences and faith, the kindly friar had many pearls of wisdom to share, especially when it came to confronting fear in life. So if you're feeling anxious, full of doubt, or just need a little courage, take a look at these wonderful words from Padre Pio.
